The latest Titan-series smartphone currently starts at ~US$249 in it’s new Kickstarter page.ZDNET's recommendations are based on many hours of testing, research, and comparison shopping. Nevertheless, the Slim has amassed well over US$400,000 in backing already, and is thus slated to ship from September 2022. It also has a battery of just 4,100mAh in capacity thanks to its new selling point, although it does at least charge via USB type-C. On the other hand, it runs a version of Android 11 and has only 1 6GB RAM/256GB internal storage SKU. It exhibits the best of Unihertz’ party tricks, which include the ability to scroll through screen contents by swiping a thumb up or down the keys. It is 4G/LTE-only thank to its MediaTek Helio P70 platform, and has an unusually small 4.2-inch HD display that shares the front panel with the star of its show, the QWERTY-layout keyboard. The Titan Slim has launched as an immediate successor to the TickTock, and, again, has proven a smash hit on Kickstarter. The brand insists that this category still has its fans, and as it keeps getting its Titan series produced through crowdfunding, this may well be the case. Now that the BlackBerry 5G project has met its demise, Unihertz is firmly established as one of the leading purveyors of smartphones that retain physical keyboards. ![]()
